Our classes are structured first by age, then by ability of the dancer. Children of similar ages have similar physical and emotional capabilities. By placing children in like age groups we are given the opportunity to evaluate each child. Should we feel that a child needs to be replaced in order to better challenge their technical ability or to accommodate their personality we do so relatively quickly.
Both of our classrooms are equipped with viewing stations in our lobby, designed just for this purpose. It’s often exciting to see friendships blossom between parents as they enjoy their children’s accomplishments.
Required dance shoes can be purchased through CDP.
The dance year runs from September – May. Sign-up in the summer for the 2017 / 2018 Season. We recommend registering by September.
We also offer fun-filled Summer Dance Camps.
One of the best ways is to expose them to performances, art galleries, dance books and videos. This will open a whole new world not only for your child but for you as well. Above all encourage your child to be as open as possible to corrections when taking classes, let them know you are proud of them and applaud their accomplishments.
Each company will carry with it various levels of training, skill requirements and time commitments. Once your child has met the requirements they will be encouraged to audition.
All employees and staff are thoroughly interviewed and background checks are done before working at CDP. Both classrooms have their own bathroom, exit door and fire extinguishers. The dance studio has 6 points of exit in case of an emergency. We have policy regarding student pickup and drop off in our Hand Book, click here.
Our staff always has the best interests of our students in mind. We believe strongly in an open door policy. If you have a question or concern please contact the office (919) 553-9907 to make an appointment to discuss issues with us with our assurance of privacy and confidentiality.
Testimonials

While I love School’s emphasis on a diverse liberal arts education, during my sophomore year I found myself wondering how I could fuse my plethora of academic interests into a unified skill-set.

All classrooms are equipped with a sound-field system for the benefit of the hearing as well as the children with hearing loss.

A sound-field system makes it easier for the students to hear the teacher’s voice. Research has found that sound-field systems may improve literacy development in all children.

A time marked by creative, social, and emotional development, and characterized by a lifelong love of learning and the joys of new, diverse friendships.
Secondary School was founded in 1987 to provide students with excellent academic programs and a nurturing environment with close student-teacher relationships. Secondary School prepares students for success both personally and academically.
These two fantastic events are always a highlight of our festive calendar. Our students performed brilliantly and we hope the audiences enjoyed the recitals, as our festive efforts!
